Army Sgt. Huey P.L. Fassbender
Huey was like a son to all of us. He was our first
roadie. He was always there when ever we needed him
without ever asking for anything. He was one of a kind
and will always be missed but never forgotten.
Huey was 24, of LaPlace, La.; assigned to the 256th
Infantry Brigade (Mechanized), Louisiana Army National
Guard, Lafayette, La.; killed Jan. 6 with six of his
fellow soldiers when an improvised explosive device
struck their Bradley fighting vehicle in Baghdad. Also
killed were Sgt. 1st Class Kurt J. Comeaux, Sgt.
Christopher J. Babin, Spc. Bradley J. Bergeron, Spc.
Armand L. Frickey, Spc. Warren A. Murphy and Army Pfc.
Kenneth G. Vonronn.
He received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National
Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas
Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces
Reserve Medal with "M" Device, Global War on Terrorism
Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary
Medal, Louisiana War Cross, Combat Infantryman Badge and
Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle

The Louisiana soldiers were members of Company C 'Black
Sheep' of the 2nd Battalion of the 156th Mechanized
Infantry Regiment, based in Houma.
