Going
back to the 70's, Ferd started a band called Savage White along with David
April and Ronnie Donaghey. Also a member for a short while was Chaz of No
Idea. Savage White was one of the most popular bands of the late 70's early
80's playing Hard Rock and Heavy Metal of that era.
For the 80's Ferd gave up playing in bands and
concentrated on raising a family. Though he temporarily gave up playing in a
band, he now was concentrating on songwriting. In '91 he ran into Huey
Fassbender, whom he's known since grade school and they decided to get
together to do some jamming. Armed with 10 years of originals they started
working
on them when Ronnie D. moved back to town. Now all we needed was a singer.
Huey suggested another childhood friend Greg Robicheaux. Stray Bullets was
born. Playing mostly originals and Classic Rock, Stray Bullets played from
New Orleans to Baton Rouge on a regular basis.
One night while playing a club in Kenner, Ferd met a
beautiful young lady named Tracey, listen to "The Promise (Cowboy Song )"
for that story. At this point Tracey started singing and playing Keyboards
with the band. With the rock clubs dying out and dance music taking over,
Stray Bullets broke up.
For the next 7 years Ferd and Tracey had a handful of
bands including Nawty Nawty, 3's Company and Heart 2 Heart playing the local
dance clubs. All this time Ferd was back at writing originals. This time
focusing on New Orleans style music. In 2004, he changed the name and Desire
Street was born.
