Tired of playing dance covers on the club circuit for the last 10 years, Ferd
decided to go back to his real musical interest.      Writing songs.

Desire Street started out as an attempt to write a CD full of New Orleans style music, which he considered to be Bluesy Funky music. But as he started writing songs, Ferd found himself coming up with songs that weren't quite blues, but were too good to put aside. That's when he started thinking. New Orleans music isn't just one kind of music, it's a mixture of styles put together, kind of like a Louisiana gumbo.
Next came putting a band together to go out and play our music. First, Huey came in. We were trying different musicians out when Hurricane Katrina hit La. That is when everything as we knew it changed. Dave, Ronnie D. and Ronnie M. lost their homes to the storm. Without a place to stay, they moved in with Ferd and Tracey. While there, the song “We Will Survive” was written in one night, and a rough demo was recorded. The next morning Ferd sent a copy to Paul of KBON radio for his opinion of the song. Without telling Ferd, he started playing it on the radio and was getting request for it. After that he started getting offers for the band to play. Well at this time there was no band, and since he had a house full of displaced musicians living with him, Ferd asked if they would back them up as the band. Though they only did a few gigs, it was great playing with the people who he started playing music with 25 years ago. After a few well-received gigs with Desire Street, they returned to their previous band, AZ-IF.
So now it was just Ferd and Tracey again. After putting ads on some of the -looking for musicians’ sites, they found Lenny. Who just happened to live right around the corner from them. Next came Todd, who Ferd met while going to an open jam at a co-workers house. Then finally, while Ferd and Tracey were attending a magicians club called The Knights of Sleight (Ferd's other hobby) they met Trini. Trini was one of the magicians going around to the tables. If you think Trini is good behind the drums, you need to see him with a deck of cards. After almost a year with Desire Street, Lenny decided to take a break from playing full time to doing fill in gigs. Then in stepped Jim, a friend of Todd's from Lafayette. Without any practices with the band and only a couple cd's of the music, Jim showed up for his first gig and just nailed everything. The show went great and Jim was a perfect match for the band.
Right when things were going good, Todd's family moved to Lafayette. One night when Ferd was out checking the band scene out, he ran into an old acquaintance who mentioned that his original guitarist of Desire Street was looking for a band. That's when Louis came back into the picture. Louis was in the first version of Desire Street before Katrina. Louis is the ultimate guitarist and a perfect fit for desire Street.
